DZIDZIO prayed for Ukraine

Mykhailo Khoma (DZIDZIO), together with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine under the guidance of conductor Oksana Lyniv, started to work on the “National Anthem of Ukraine” project a few months ago. The work was held at the Kyiv Recording House, the only place in Ukraine where more than a hundred musicians and choirs can be recorded simultaneously.

While working on the National Anthem, Mykhailo came up with the idea to write the Spiritual Anthem of Ukraine “Great God, You are the only one, save Ukraine for us”. It was unrealistic to do so in such a short timeframe, however, Mykhailo insisted:

“In the process of preparing the project of the National Anthem of Ukraine, at some point I realized that I should definitely record the Spiritual Anthem of Ukraine as well.” We have made a wonderful team together with young talented musicians from all over Ukraine and they performed the prayer “Great God, You are the only one…” with me for the first time”.

We finished our work on the “Prayer” on a special day – the Annunciation. The video was directed by a longtime friend of Mykhailo – Volodymyr Shurubura. As the main location a landmark of history and spirituality St. Sophia Cathedral (Sophia of Kyiv) was chosen, the site of a special spiritual power that protects the people of Ukraine. ”The Prayer for Ukraine“ is an extra-terrestrial super-powerful force that will help all Ukrainians live through these difficult times that have now fallen unto Ukraine’s and the world’s fate.

Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine / YsOU – Founded in 2016 by the initiative of Oksana Lyniv, the participants are from 12 to 22 years old and frequently take part in the most famous world and Ukrainian projects. During the recording of the State and Spiritual Anthems of Ukraine, musicians from Kremenets, Kyiv, Ternopil, Lviv, Starobilsk, Severodonetsk, Dnipro, Donetsk, Ivano-Frankivsk and Kharkiv participated in this DZIDZIO project.
